Indian Idol 12 contestant, Shanmukha Priya has now been trolled for her rendition of Shravan Rathod’s Humko Sirf Tumse Pyaar Hai. Many said that Priya 'ruined' the song.
Netizens started demanding her eviction from the show after her latest performance on the show. Shanmukha Priya reacted to the trolls, by saying that she takes in such comments "with a pinch of salt."
"I came to know about the happenings only after a few of my well-wishers reached out to me. I tried to take the trolls with a pinch of salt,” Priya told Yo!Vizag in an interview.
She then added that "she will try and put my best efforts to showcase my skills in the coming rounds.”
Shanmukha Priya's mother defends her
Priya's mother defended her daughter, by saying that she is trying to experiment with different musical genres. She also said that the songs are given to all the contestants by the showrunners. However, she said that she is grateful for all the love and affection her daughter has received from the viewers, despite the latest criticism.
Earlier, Aditya Narayan, the host for Indian Idol 12 said that all the contestants are now learning how to handle criticism at an early stage of their careers. He then added that this is good for them, as they are getting exposure to the harsh reality which prevails outside the show. He stressed the fact that it is inevitable that the numbers of both their admirers and critics will grow in the coming years.
Shanmukha's latest trolling comes after the show was widely criticised for its quality of singing. Amit Kumar, the son of the legendary singer Kishore Kumar told TOI, "I did what I was told. I was told sabko praise kamana hai. I was told jo jaisa bhi gaaye usko uplift karna hai because it's a tribute to Kishore da."
"I thought it will be a homage to my father. But once there, I just followed what I was asked to do. I had told them to give me portions of the script in advance, but nothing of that sort happened," he added.
