 Human Rights Day With Tribal People Of Attappady: On the occasion of World Human Rights Day, that is on December 10, the Kerala Women's Commission is organising events and will be celebrating it with the tribal people in Attappady region of the state. It will be a two-day event where the aim will be to promote equal human rights for tribal communities.

The commission will be interacting with tribal communities in the Attappady region. This session and events will aim at spreading awareness about the Human Rights Day among the tribal people.

The Tribal population is significant in the region and hence, the awareness program on Human Rights Day becomes important. These people are still striving for recognition and advancement. Attappadi is part of Mannarkkad taluk in Palakkad district of Kerala. Attappady Reserve Forest is a protected area in the western parts of Attappady and is one of the reserved forests and protected forests of India. Currently it is inhabited by Irulas, Mudugas and Kurumbar people.

Awareness Programme On Human Rights Day

There will be events that will be joined by the tribal people. The events will also include the Schedule Tribe Promoters like the Anganwadi teachers, Asha workers and the vigilance committee members. It will be an interactive session with question and answers and explanation of the rights that the Tribal communities deserve.

The commission for the observation of Human Rights day will be headed by the chairperson P Sathidevi. She will inaugurate the programme on the Friday morning at the Kerala Institute Of Local Administration regional center in Agali. She will be accompanied by other members of the commission as well. This will include MS Thara, Shiji Sivaji, and Shahida Kamal and district panchayat president K Binumol.

With this, the commission will begin their programme and go to various places talking to Tribal people and spreading the message that Tribal people are also humans and their rights are also human rights, The Hindu reported.
