miss universe 2021 pageant highlights: Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu made India proud on December 13, 2021 by winning the coveted crown of Miss Universe 2021. This 21-year-old Chandigarh resident is bringing home the Miss Universe crown after 21 years. The ceremony was held at Eilat, Israel. Here are the highlights of the finale.
Her gown
Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu wore a silver see-through gown. It was designed by Saisha Shinde for the finale look. She was also wearing the stone-adorned silver drop earrings with her gown.
The winning answer
During the final question and answer round, the finalists were asked about the one advice they would provide to young women who are dealing with the pressures they face today.
“The biggest pressure the youth today is facing, is to believe in themselves, to know that you are unique makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that are happening worldwide. Come out, speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own. I believe in myself and that is why I am standing here today.”, she said.

Her reaction on winning
Upon being announced the winner, Ms Sandhu got extremely overwhelmed and broke into tears. After containing herself, she was seen screaming, “Chak de phatte, India. Chak de phatte”

"India, this one's for you," Ms Sandhu posted on Instagram hours after she won on Saturday.
National Costume round
There was also a National Costume around where she wore a Abhinav Mishra lehenga with a custom umbrella by Reza Shariffi. The two major aspects of the national costume were 'Mirrors' and 'the umbrella'. The mirrors signify deflection of bad luck and evil spirits from the person who wears it. The umbrella, on the other hand, represents 'shelter' or the canopy of the skies, as well as protection, as per a report.
