A video, where a cop can be seen carrying a month old baby girl in a tub and crossing the flood area like Vasudev is going viral on the Internet. The Gujarat cop Govind Chavda was seen going beyond his line of duty to save the toddler. After the heavy rainfall, Gujarat is heavily flooded and many people are stuck especially in Vadodra. The flood has already claimed 56 lives. The state police along with the team of NDRF are working extensively to rescue common citizens.

On August 1 the police station at Devipura village in Vadodra received the information about several people being stranded at the Vishwamitri railway station. According to the reports, the flood water was flowing above the chest level and rescuing people safely became a major task. Nonetheless, the local police managed to save 70 lives including the life of a month old baby girl.

Plan Of Action

As the water level was increasing drastically, the main concern for the cops was to rescue those people and shift them on the high-level ground from where they can be transported to a safer place by the NDRF team. So the police team tied one end of the rope to a pole and successfully managed to make 70 people cross the heavily flowing water current. One of the couples who were hesitant to take the path had a one-month-old baby girl in their hand. Analysing the grave situation of constantly increasing floodwaters, Sub-inspector Govind Chavda took matters into his own hands.

With a great presence of mind, the cop arranged for a plastic basket. Meanwhile, he asked the parents to wrap their baby girl in a blanket. After that, Chavda bravely held the basket on his head and crossed the flood water saving the toddler's life. He walked through five feet-deep water for 1.5km to take her to save the girl. Eyewitness gathered there compared this amazing visual with the mythological scene where lord Krishna's father Vasudev carried him and cross the Yamuna river.

On this whole situation, the brave cop said “The water current was strong. So I had to ensure that I had held the rope tightly. Fortunately, I managed to cross without any trouble” Chavda said, reported Times Of India.
