"White Widows" are females who travel to Syria and Iraq to marry ISIS terrorists.

The Case

Miners claimed that she was brainwashed by Naweed Hussain, an ISIS recruitern on Facebook. She also said that he wanted to marry her and sent her "hundreds of messages" every day.

Miners disclosed this in an interview with The Sun, while referring to Sally Jones, a British female recruit from Kent who moved to Syria. Jones had moved with her son and was killed in an airstrike last year.

In a report by TOI, she said, "I was totally taken in. I was groomed and I fell for it. I was a propaganda trophy to be won. I dread to think what would have happened."

Hussain was a Briton of Pakistani-origin. He had joined ISIS in Syria in June 2015. The terrorist was killed last year.

Investigations

Miners had been arrested after messages by Hussain were intercepted by the counter terrorism police. The police advised her to take a terrorism prevention course but she opted out of it. She was then arrested in October 2016.

Miners was released in March 2017 with a warning that she could be imprisoned for 10 years.

She revealed that she felt "all alone" after losing her baby and fiance.

Miners said, "I was upset by what was happening in Syria to the children. I started sharing videos of bomb attacks. I soon started receiving lots of friend requests from people in Syria.

"It's embarrassing now but I liked the attention. People have no idea, but ISIS is actively searching Facebook for vulnerable people. People just like me," she added.
