The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) is to take the final decision on the postponement of class 10 and 12 exams after April 30.
“We are adopting a wait and watch policy at the moment after postponing class 10 and 12 exams. The future of these examinations will be decided after April 30, taking into account the pandemic situation in the state,” said Bhagirath Shetye, the chairperson of the Goa board.
The Goa board was going to start the board exams from April 24 onwards. However, a government order on April 21 made them postpone the exams due to the massive surge in the COVID-19 cases in the state.

Meanwhile, Narayan Desai who is a Goa-based educationist and former school principal said that there is no option for the Goa board, but to postpone the examinations. He also added that the constant shift from online to offline and hybrid modes of education is indeed affecting many students.
Captain Amardeep, the founder-director of Tritya Group of Institutions said that although the postponement was a good move, it might adversely affect the students' preparation for competitive exams. According to him, the postponement would only affect students' plans to study overseas.
NMC to invigilate practical exams virtually via video conferencing
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced that the practical exams for various postgraduate programmes will be invigilated virtually. However, two internal examiners wi be present to supervise the exams on the spot.
The statement from the NMC further said that the concerned universities will be given the freedom to decide the time and method of the exams. This will have to be in accordance with the COVID-19 situation in their area.
