Dream Girl Hema Malini’s Biography To Be Out Soon
The life of legendary actor-turned-politician Hema Malini is soon to be shared with her fans. Harper Collins is going to publish her biography, titled Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl, written by Ram Kamal Mukherjee. It will be released in October this year on the actor’s birthday.
Ram Kamal Mukherjee, senior journalist, former editor-in-chief with Stardust, said, ‘I think this is the right time to revisit Hema Malini’s life and achievement, since she has been extremely active as a stage performer, actor and a politician. My first book on Hema Malini was pictorial, but this time, it will be more about her achievement as a politician apart from her sojourn as an actor, danseuse and film-maker. It will offer a new perspective on Bollywood’s first female superstar. I am looking forward to it.’

Popularly called Dream Girl after her role in a movie of the same name, Hema Malini gave a string of hit films right from Johny Mera Naam, Jugnu, Andaz, Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay to the more recent Baghban. At a time when Indian cinema was heavily male-dominated, Hema Malini carved a name for herself with her elegance and powerful acting skills.
Talking about the biography, Hema Malini said in a press statement,
“Ram Kamal is a dear friend and a senior journalist and author. As editor-in-chief of Stardust, he had done a coffee table book on me almost ten years ago. It was a beautiful pictorial representation of my career as an actor. I wish him all the best for his latest endeavour with HarperCollins in writing another book on me.”
Not just acting, Hema Malini has also performed in immensely successful classical dance ballets such as Draupadi, Radha Krishna and Durga. She has also taken on the roles of a film-maker and producer of both films and TV series.
The BJP MP from Mathura has proven her talent in many spheres and is an inspiration for today’s youth. Hema Malini is also slated to enter the 70mm screen yet again this year with Ramesh Sippy’s unusual love story Shimla Mirch with Rajkumar Rao.
