This initiative is positioned to serve as a crucial support system, offering assistance, job opportunities, financial aid, and protection from criminal activities.

Raising Awareness and Providing Solutions

The distress helpline is part of a broader strategy to increase awareness campaigns targeting Punjabi women. Recognizing the difficulties faced by this demographic, Singh emphasizes the importance of offering comprehensive support beyond the confines of traditional familial structures. She expressed this in her statement when she said, “Parents in India are not sensitive towards the hardships the youngsters face in Canada.”

Punjabi daughters should share their struggles with organizations like ours for effective solutions," she further added.

One-Stop Distress Centre Hotline

The helpline, reachable at 647-740-7377, serves as a dedicated one-stop distress centre for Punjabi youth in need. It is designed to address a spectrum of concerns, including emotional distress, employment challenges, financial difficulties, and protection from criminal activities. The goal is to create a safe space where individuals can seek assistance without fear of judgment.

National Hotline for Comprehensive Support

In addition to the dedicated distress helpline, Sunder Singh has also announced a national hotline, 1-833-900-1010, which aims to provide comprehensive support at a broader level.

The launch of the distress helpline by Sunder Singh stands as support for Punjabi women facing diverse challenges in Canada. By providing a dedicated platform for assistance and empowerment, this initiative contributes to fostering a more inclusive and understanding environment for the Punjabi community. As the helpline becomes operational, it is poised to make a significant impact in helping Punjabi youth, especially women, navigate the complexities of life in Canada.
