In a country that polices its women for everything they wear, it is not uncommon to find them being shamed for their sartorial choices. There are, however, very few brave souls who choose to break their silence and speak against the wrong-doers. Disha Patani, who rose to fame, with her role in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, was recently mocked at for posting a photo wearing a "revealing dress". In response, she shared a powerful Instagram note highlighting the issues of crime and body-shaming prevalent in the country. She made it very clear that she will not fit in the notions of an "Indian girl".

The caption of the post says,"Really felt a need to share this! thanks to my fan clubs, friends and family for always giving me the strength. I hope we all can find this strength from within each other and stop suffering #spreadlove. (sic)"

Disha Patani is not the only victim of body shaming. Recently, actress Ayesha Takia has also been targeted for her new appearance.
The menace of body shaming is prevalent globally. A few days ago, Lady Gaga responded to all those shaming her by writing an Instagram post which said, "I am proud of my body and you should be proud of it too." She was delivering the Spectacular Half Time Performance when people noticed her flab and criticized her for the same.
When will the world start accepting women the way they are? How can everyone have the same body type? Humiliating women for not pertaining to a body type is bizarre.
