Mumbai: Food Delivery Boy Rapes A Dog In Powai Mall, Arrested

A 28-year-old food delivery boy was detained by the Powai police on Saturday, October 29th for reportedly having sexual intercourse with a dog in a mall.

A 28-year-old food delivery boy was detained by the Powai police on Saturday, October 29th for reportedly having sexual intercourse with a dog in a mall. Animal activist and member of the NGO Bombay Animal Rights, Minu Sheth, 61, filed the complaint.

Minu Sheth, a regular feeder for stray animals in the area, provides daily food for this dog. Sheth received a video of the accused sexually assaulting the six-month-old dog on the second floor of the outside balcony of the Hira Panna Mall on October 29 from Vijay Mohanni, president of Bombay Animal Rights. Additionally, he urged her to report the food delivery boy in question to the police.

Sheth and the employees of a mall bar and restaurant fed the dog. According to reports, the suspect had been raping the dog for a number of days. A delivery executive caught him in the act and recorded it on camera. He then shared it with his friends and coworkers, who in turn passed it to Vijay Mohnani.

Additionally, according to Mohanni, the dog is currently undergoing medical evaluation and has swelling in her private parts. Furthermore, she has been admitted to a hospital and is receiving treatment there. She's terrified as well. He added that he had asked the residents of Mumbai to assist her by adopting her.

According to the police, they have filed a complaint against the defendant and detained him in accordance with ICP IPC section 377 (unnatural offences) and the 1960 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. They further mentioned that the accused had appeared in court in Bandra and had been taken into prison by the police.

Dog behaviourist and trainer Niharika Gandhi said, "These delivery boys come to our doorstep, enter our safe circle, and this is what they are capable of. There has to be a verification of character. Do these companies check for prior police records? We have lost 23 dogs this year to hit-and-runs due to commercial vehicles and private cars. It’s a sad situation."
