Congress President Rahul Gandhi released the party's manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and it is titled, "Hum Nibhayenge." He was joined by other top party leaders, including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi.


"Our manifesto process reflects our commitment to a higher vision - that of listening to the Jan Awaaaz. It is not the ‘mann ki baat’ of one individual but the collective voice of lakhs of people," reads the forward by Rahul Gandhi on INC website.

He also shared the manifesto on Twitter, writing, "Months of solid work rewarded by an overwhelming response. I’m so proud our people’s manifesto accurately reflects the voice of India. Thank you everyone."

Here are eight pleadges to the youth which the opposition party's manifesto makes:

Reward to businesses for creating jobs:

The party guarantees to give a boost to the private sector by rewarding businesses for job creation and employing more women.

Ticket to run a business without any constraint:


The party promises to give the country's youth full freedom to establish their own business without any restrictions for 3 years.

New avenues of employment for youth:

If Congress is voted to power then the party plans to open new avenues of employment and ways to keep the youth engaged. The party plans to fill all 4 lakh vacancies in the Central Government and institutional vacancies before 2020. It also promises to persuade the state governments to fill their 20 lakh vacancies and create an estimated 10 lakh new Seva Mitra positions in every gram panchayat  and urban local body.

Identification of jobs with opportunities to acquire the necessary skills:

The party promises to identify new kinds of jobs that will emerge with the advent of new technologies and will also offer opportunities to the youth to acquire the skill-sets necessary for these jobs.

Focus on creation of low-skilled jobs:


Congress plans to launch two major programmes to be implemented through Gram Sabhas and Urban Local Bodies that will create lakhs of jobs in order to absorb young men and women who have completed only a few years in school.

  • Repair and restoration of water bodies (‘Water Bodies Restoration Mission’)
  • Regeneration and afforestation of wasteland and degraded land (‘Wasteland Regeneration Mission’)

Equal Pay:

The Congress manifesto promises that The Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 will be enforced effectively and all the laws will be reviewed to stipulate wage rates to provide that men and women are paid the same wage for similar work.

A boost in the number of days under MNREGA Act, 2005:

The party promises to increase the number of days of employment under MNREGA to 150 days from the existing 100.


Formation of a new ministry for creation of jobs:

The party has vowed to create a new Ministry of Industry, Services, and Employment in order to underline the link between the growth of industry and the service sectors and the rapid creation of jobs.
