CBI Books Civil Servants Alka Jain, Amit Jain in Disproportionate Assets Case

The CBI has alleged that the couple had acquired a large amount of movable and immovable assets between April 2010 to June 2018. These assets were acquired at Rs 5.53 crore.

Alka Jain Booked: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked civil servants Alka Jain and Amit Jain in a disproportionate assets case.

They belong to the 1989 batch of civil servants and have been allegedly involved in a disproportionate assets case worth 5.5 crores.

Searches Conducted on Alka Jain and Amit Jain's society

On Friday, the CBI conducted searches in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur, after filing the case against Alka Jain and Amit Jain. Alka is an Indian Revenue Service officer who was posted as Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) in Udaipur. On the other hand, her husband Amit Jain, an India Railway Engineering Service officer was posted as Group General Manager at Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. Both of them have been named in an FIR, along with Chartered Accountant Vikas Rajvanshi. According to the couple, the latter helped them get hold of illegitimate assets.

CBI alleged that the couple amassed numerous assets between 2010 and 2018

The CBI has alleged that the couple had acquired a large amount of movable and immovable assets between April 2010 to June 2018. These assets were acquired at Rs 5.53 crore.

Furthermore, the CBI also said that the couple had acquired assets worth Rs 35.14 lakh in 2010, which gradually increased to Rs 8.80 crore by June 2018. They had numerous bank balances, vehicles and other such assets in their names.

Both Jain and her husband were earning Rs 3.72 crore via salary, loan, GPF withdrawal, etc. They spent about Rs. 80.06 lakh which was used for clearing bank loans for various purposes. This is how their disproportionate assets summed up to Rs 5.5 crore.
