Fisher died on 27th December after suffering from a heart attack, and her mother, actress Debbie Reynolds died just a day later. The mother and daughter lived next to each other in Beverly Hills and were avid collectors of Hollywood artefacts, 1500 of which will go on sale in September.

Some of the pieces that will be on sale are a life size C-3PO, a pair of ruby Wizard of Oz slippers, the lavender silk chiffon dress which Reynolds were in the popular ‘Singing’ in the Rain.’

Fisher passed away at the age of 60, and Reynolds died at the age of 84. Reynolds was an avid collector and it was her desire to start a museum for all the items she had amassed. She acquired things like the famous white dress that Marilyn Monroe wore, and Audrey Hepburn’s ascot dress from My Fair Lady, which she later sold in separate auctions.

Reynolds had opened a museum in Las Vegas in 1995, but had to shut it down due to financial difficulties. She later asked the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to house her memorabilia, but they refused.

Some of the sales from the mother’s and daughter’s estate will go to Reynolds’ mental health charity, and to a foundation which works to prevent suicide among teenagers. The estate is worth $18 million. The property is three acres big, and includes a swimming pool, tennis court and guest house.

"The size and scope of their collection rivals most museums" said Fisher's brother, Todd.
