A Canadian woman visiting Delhi alleged that she was raped by a man she met at a pub in south Delhi’s Hauz Khas reported the TOI. The woman, 20, was taken to a guest house in East Delhi at around 12:30 am, Wednesday. Where the accused indulged in inappropriate behaviour and assaulted her. The police officials revealed that the accused has been identified as Abhishek, the manager of the guest house and has now been arrested.

The 20-year-old woman was befriended by Abhishek on Tuesday evening when the woman had gone to a pub in Hauz Khas Village with her friends. A couple of friends had also joined them and he was present at the gathering.

The police added that the incident took place at the accused’s guest house. The woman had gone down to his place after he invited her.

The woman informed the police at 2:30 am, Wednesday after she reached All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on the advice of an Indian friend of hers.

“According to the woman’s statement, the accused raped her at the guest house. The woman somehow managed to escape and took a cab and called her friend who advised her to reach AIIMS and call the police,” said the investigator in a report by HT.

The cops came to the hospital to record her statement and began investigating based on the details she had provided. She later gave the police a written complaint. A case has been registered against the accused.

Abhishek is the manager of the guest house where the incident took place in East Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar. A rape case has been registered against the 25-year-old, said the Deputy Commissioner of police (south), Romil Baaniya according to a report by HT.

The woman is reportedly visiting India with two of her female friends. She knows a family in Delhi and hence decided to stay in the city for a few days.  She told the cops that she had arrived in Delhi with two of her friends on June 25 and was scheduled to leave for Indonesia after a few days in the capital the TOI reported.

The accused was summoned before a magistrate after being arrested on Wednesday.
