The woman’s LinkedIn post read that she was travelling in a cab from BTM 2nd Stage to JP Nagar Metro. The cab driver arrived on time, and everything seemed fine and normal. Suddenly, he had taken an unfamiliar route, to which she immediately raised concern. After that, he followed the map.

Cab Driver Flashes At Woman

After the uncomfortable experience, she decided to get dropped off at an earlier destination before reaching her intended one. As soon as she paid the fare, the cab driver exposed his private parts to her, leaving her "traumatised and appalled." She explained that she immediately fled from there and sought solace in the safety of a nearby crowd. The woman expressed how shocked and confused she was with the flashing, finding it difficult to collect her thoughts.

In a follow-up post, the woman mentioned that, in response to her post, the Uber app had taken action against the driver. She wrote that the team had reached out to her and conducted a thorough investigation into the issue to understand the claims of both parties involved. The woman expressed her gratitude for the swift response and intensive efforts made by the company to address the issue. She stated the company had taken the required action against the accused cab driver.

The woman also added that it was reassuring to know that the company took the issue seriously and implemented appropriate steps to ensure the safety of their passengers. She said that she hoped this action would serve as a reminder that incidents like these would never be tolerated, that actions would be taken immediately, and that customers' well-being would remain the company’s top priority. The cab driver named Rakhesh YG, cab details, and photo were also revealed.

Will Exposing Guarantee Punishment?

While it’s reassuring that action is being taken against such wrongdoers, the question of how effective these actions are remains. Last month, a Kerala-based woman posted a video of a man who harassed her on a bus. The man was handed over to the cops and even sent to prison. However, upon his release earlier this month, the man was received with garland and praised by a group of men belonging to the "All Kerala Men’s Association."

Most often, women are reluctant to respond to public transport harassment. That has gradually changed in recent times as women are daring to call out their harassers on the spot. But if these men aren’t given the appropriate punishment for their wrongdoings and end up coming out of prison and leading a normal life, what is the use of women risking everything to expose their perpetrators? How will this encourage women to continue speaking out against abuse? Don’t we need stricter laws that ensure harassers receive appropriate and timely punishments that serve as a warning to potential offenders?
