Author Sophie Kinsella, best known for her novel series Shopaholic, revealed that she has been undergoing treatment for an aggressive form of brain cancer.

British author Sophie Kinsella revealed that she is undergoing treatment for an aggressive form of brain cancer. The 54-year-old Shopaholic series writer said in a Facebook post that she has been taking chemotherapy and radiotherapy and underwent one surgery. Kinsella wrote, "I did not share this before because I wanted to make sure that my children were able to hear and process the news in privacy and adapt to our 'new normal.'" She stated that she has been receiving "excellent care" at London's University College Hospital and added she is stable and "generally very well".

Kinsella said that while she is recovering well, her memory is "even worse than it was before. She said she wanted to keep the diagnosis private for a while so that her family could understand her condition first. She added, "I am so grateful to my family and close friends who have been an incredible support to me, and to the wonderful doctors and nurses who have treated me."

Sophie Kinsella Diagnosed With Brain Cancer

In a social media post, novelist Sophie Kinsella wrote, "I’ve wanted for a long time to share with you a health update and I’ve been waiting for the strength to do so. At the end of 2022, I was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a form of aggressive brain cancer. She dedicated a heartfelt message to others battling terminal illnesses

"To everyone who is suffering from cancer in any form I send love and best wishes, as well as to those who support them," she wrote. Kinsella candidly expressed, "It can feel very lonely and scary to have a tough diagnosis, and the support and care of those around you means more than words can say."

Kinsella, whose real name is Madeleine Sophie Wickham, published her book The Burnout in October 2023. Her most significant work is the Shopaholic series, from 2000 to 2019. She wrote, "I am so grateful to my readers for your constant support. The wonderful response to THE BURNOUT has really buoyed me up during a difficult time."
