On Wednesday, April 17, the police released a statement detailing the incident that the woman had been arrested for wheeling a 68-year-old man's dead corpse into the bank to co-sign for a small loan of $3,250.

Security camera footage captured Nunes entering the bank branch pushing a wheelchair carrying a pale and motionless man whom she was repetitively addressing as her uncle. As Nunes was repeatedly trying to hold the drooping head of the deceased man standing next to her, a bank employee even pointed out that he didn't seem fine.

Dismissing the remark immediately Nunes clarified "He doesn’t say anything, that’s just how he is" while trying to hold a pen to the man's limp hand and whispering into his ear in an attempt to create an illusion of communication between the two. To add more to the act Nunes also tried to showcase her so-called tough spot in handling the elderly as she says "Sign so you don’t give me any more headaches, I can’t take it anymore."

In the security footage, Nunes is also heard talking to the corpse saying "Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign. If you don’t sign, there’s no way because I can’t sign for you" and "If you’re not okay, I’m going to take you to the hospital."

However, the bank staffers were not buying Nunes's unconvincing excuses and called the cops as their suspicion grew. The police immediately arrested Nunes while the dead body of the elderly was sent to the morgue for autopsy the elderly man died several hours before Nunes brought him to the bank and the police alleged: "She (Nunes) already knew." However, Nunes' lawyer maintains that Braga was alive when they entered the bank, and further investigation into the case is underway.

The incident is a shocking cue of the lengths some individuals may go to in desperate financial situations.
