Bollywood Actresses Shine As Singers Too
The current generation of Bollywood heroines are a multi-talented lot. The actresses are doing much more than just running around trees in chiffon sarees. Besides doing substantial roles, the female actors are also experimenting with singing in their movies and coming up with some soulful music.
Actor Shraddha Kapoor, who is now going to be seen in Rock On 2, has also sang a song in it called Udja Re and her singing is being much appreciated by the public. Kapoor, of Ek Villain fame, had also sung Galliyan (Unplugged) in the same movie, a folk song in Haidar called Do Jahan and Sab Tera. The petite actor is a classically trained singer but in Rock On 2, she sang electronic rap and faced no problems in adjusting to that genre at all.
Apart from Shraddha, there are a few more Bollywood actresses who are taking the singing route simultaneously. Here is a list that we compiled:
- Priyanka Chopra
The global star’s love for singing is well known. Her passion and dedication for music led her to release a full album of songs with a few international singers. From her album, Exotic and In My City became quick hits with the public. The Quantico star has also sung a few songs in her movies, the latest being ‘Baba’ for the first Marathi film she has produced. The moment the song came out, it has been garnering rave reviews for Priyanka’s emotional touch in the song.
- Alia Bhatt
The actress won everyone over with power-packed performances in movies like Highway and Udta Punjab at such a young age. She made her singing debut with Sooha Saaha for Highway which wowed the audience. After that she sang Main Tenu Samjhawan for Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania and Ikk Kudi for Udta Punjab that became instant hits as well.
- Shruti Hassan
The South siren, who made her adult Bollywood debut with an unsuccessful movie – Luck, has been a singer since childhood and started singing professionally since the age of six. Her first song was Thevar Megan for a Tamil movie starring superstar Kamal Hassan (also her father). The multi-lingual actor works in three industries – Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Apart from winning Filmfare awards for her singing in Tamil, her Hindi list of successful songs includes Aazma (Luck), Joganniya (Tevar) and Sannata (Shamitabh).
- Sonakshi Sinha
Sonakshi Sinha has been consistently moving her way up in the league of hit actors with movies like Rowdy Rathore, Dabangg, Dabangg 2 and Holiday. Her latest release, Akira, was touted as a strong female-backed movie where she drove the film all by herself. Adding one more feather to her cap, the Dabangg actor’s singing debut happened with singing one line in the song Let’s Celebrate alongside Punjabi singer Imran Khan in the movie Tevar. And she recently sang Rajj Rajj Ke with Vishal Dadlani for Akira.
