If writing forte and you want to make some money in the process, then blogging is perfect for you. Not only is it a great hobby, but also a platform for expressing your own ideas, views and opinions. So in case, you’re wondering how to get started, here are a few steps that’ll act as guidelines to establish your blog.

Decide your niche

The first and foremost step is to decide what is it that you’ll be blogging about. You can blog about anything you’re passionate about, but you need to figure out what that is. You can be a food blogger, lifestyle blogger, review movies, write about your travels, share your ideas about parenting or motherhood or just write about your feelings.

Select a platform

You can choose from a variety of blogging platforms like WordPress, Blogger, Squarespace, Wix and Weebly to name a few. However, WordPress is easier and more flexible, especially for beginners.

Choose a host and domain name

A host provides server space for your site. Basically, in order to be found on the internet, you need server space for your site. HostGator, BigRock, WebHostingPad, BlueHost and Google hosting are a few cheap and reliable web hosts in India.

A domain is a web address. Your domain name will be your personal blog address through which people can find you on the internet. Think of a name that is short, catchy and shareable, after which you can get it registered.

Design your blog

Once you’ve set up your blog, it’s time to start customising it. You can add various themes and layouts to make it more interesting and attractive. You can also add widgets and plugins like Facebook, Twitter or Google search.

Writing compelling content

High-quality content is crucial in gaining online traffic to your blog. Write valuable and compelling articles so that it keeps your readers hooked on your posts. If your content is average, then it may not attract traffic at all.

Promote your blog

The easiest way to get traffic on your blog is by promoting on social media. It is cheap, has a huge reach and it’s really effective. You can also promote it on search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. Get connected to blog directories such as Blogadda, Indiblogger, still infinity, etc so that people can find you easily.

Interact with fellow bloggers

Interact with other bloggers in the same industry as well. Keep liking and commenting on their blogs. Ask them to have a look at yours too. Establish a good relationship with them and try to get inspiration from them.

Keep going

Now that you have successfully set up and your blog, don’t abandon it. Keep writing and reach out to as many people as you can. Write quality content and publish it regularly.
