Bengaluru Girl Clinches Three Medals At Dance World Cup
Bengaluru girl Vinaya Seshan is going places these days, thanks to her passion for dance. Studying in class X, the dancing diva has won three medals at the 2017 Dance World Cup held recently in Germany.
She managed to clinch gold in the duet category and a bronze each in the hip-hop group and hip-hop solo categories. The budding dancer had also won 3 medals at last year’s edition of the World Cup.
Vinaya chose to dance in the formal blue uniform of her school — Inventure Academy — as she considers it to be her lucky charm.
Her tryst with dance commenced in Grade 1. She was a part of Inventure’s dance teams and musical productions. Vinaya’s life changed overnight when she was selected for Berserk, a week-long dance workshop conducted by the Lourd Vijay Dance School. She was part of their squad that won a bronze in the 2015 World Cup.
Besides being an avid dancer, she also plays the tabla, guitar and piano. “Being versatile is important; at the same time, finding the right balance is difficult, but achievable,” she tells TOI.
The event, touted as one of the world’s most coveted all-genre dance competition for children and youth, saw 12,000 participants from 47 countries who competed in the qualifiers, and over 10,000 from 43 countries who made it to the final.
Talented girls like Vinaya are proving their mettle by showcasing talent in different fields. They will surely inspire many girls to follow their passion and win accolades for the nation and make their family, community and country proud.
