"Delighted to announce that Begum Jaan has been declared tax free in Jharkhand and has also been given a subsidy of Rs 2 cr under the Government Policy of Promotion of Jharkhand as a Film Destination," the film’s director Srijit Mukherji said on Twitter.

Co-producer Mahesh Bhatt also expressed his joy at the decision:

Vidya Balan is the main lead in the movie, which tells the story of India’s Partition through the eyes of prostitutes. Balan plays the role of a brothel owner who fights to save her property during the Partition years.

Whenever we talk about the Partition, we always talk about the families, businesses and their sufferings, but nobody talks about women, let alone prostitutes, and their problems, said Balan in an interview.

We love how badass Vidya Balan seems in the movie's trailer. Watch it below.
