Following the alleged molestation of an army jawan’s wife by more than 40 people in Tamil Nadu, the Indian Army on Sunday released a statement saying that they had contacted the police administration, which assured that a proper investigation would be carried out in the case.

The incident came to light after the army jawan posted a video message pleading with the police to take action against the attackers who assaulted his wife. The army jawan stated that his wife was stripped half-naked and continuously beaten by several men. However, the Tamil Nadu police refuted the claims.

Army Jawan's Wife Attacked In TN

  1. On Sunday, the army jawan’s wife alleged that she was attacked, molested, and verbally abused by over 40 men. She also claimed that they threatened her and her family in the district of Vellore.
  2. The police noted that the case was over a land dispute between the army jawan’s wife and some men. They also said that the police department had provided her with the necessary protection.
  3. According to the police statement, they claim that no one attacked her or insulted her mother and that the video posted by the soldier who is in Kashmir seemed to be "exaggerated."
  4. The soldier, who hails from Tiruvannamalai district in Tamil Nadu, posted a video speaking in Tamil on June 10. The video went viral after retired army officer Colonel N. Thiagarajan reshared it on his Twitter handle.
  5. Kartikeyan, the Superintendent of Police in Thiruvannamalai, stated that an FIR was filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code based on the complaint filed by the army jawan. He added that two of the accused, identified as Ramu and Hariprasad, were already arrested.
  6. The Indian army stated that it highly prioritises the well-being of the soldiers' families, who stay away from them while they are deployed in various field areas to serve the country.
  7. The BJP President of Tamil Nadu, Annamalai, said that he personally spoke to the Jawan, Havildar, who is serving the country in Kashmir. He mentioned that he was "truly gutted" to hear about the incident and felt ashamed that it happened in Tamil Nadu. He added that his party members were rushing to help out the jawan’s wife, who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Vellore. He also added that Tamil Nadu’s BJP will stand in support of her and ensure Havildar’s family gets justice.
