Amritpal Singh's Wife Kirandeep Kaur Was Detained At The Airport By Police

Radical Sikh leader Amritpal Singh’s wife, Kirandeep Kaur, has been detained by the Punjab police at Shri Guru Ram Dass International Airport while she was about to board a flight to London. Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh has been absconding since March 18 after the Punjab police took action against him and his organisation.

A senior officer of the Punjab police confirmed that an LoC was issued against Kirandeep Kaur. When Kaur arrived at the airport to board a flight from Amritsar to London, which was set to depart at 1.20 p.m., she was stopped by the immigration department on Thursday. Kaur is being questioned at the airport as of now.

Amritpal Singh Wife Detained

The police have had Kaur on their radar since Amritpal Singh absconded. They suspect that Kaur has a role in raising foreign funds for Waris Punjab De organisation. Kaur is an NRI who was born in Punjab but was raised in the United Kingdom as her family relocated there.

However, since marrying Amritpal Singh in February of this year, Kaur has been staying with him in Punjab. Reportedly, Kaur met Amritpal Singh through social media. The duo had tied the knot at Jallupur Khera, Singh’s native town in Amritsar. In an interview, Kirandeep Kaur described Amritpal Singh as a model husband.

Amritpal Singh had been posting several videos to his followers since he went into hiding, assuring them that he was not absconding. It was speculated that he may surrender around Baisakhi. However, he did not surrender, but his close aide, Papalpreet Singh, was arrested by the police. Joga Singh, another close aide of Amritpal Singh, was also arrested.

Amritpal Singh is a Dubai-returned, self-styled Sikh preacher who is currently the head of Waris De Punjab, an organization founded by Punjabi singer and activist Depp Sidhu. Sidhu passed away in a road accident in February of last year.

Several criminal cases have been filed against Amritpal Singh and his aides for spreading disharmony among classes, attempting to murder someone, attacking police officers, and creating obstructions in the lawful discharge of the duty of public servants. However, despite the massive manhunt, the Waris Punjab De Chief has continued to remain elusive to date.
