Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney recently opened up about the secret ingredient to his happy marriage with Amal Clooney. And it is as old-school and romantic as it gets! The power couple apparently keeps the spark alive in their relationship by leaving love letters around for the other to discover. What’s more, the 59-year-old also revealed he is rather adept at sewing clothes, a skill he puts to good use for his wife and their twins.

In an interview with AARP Magazine, whose cover Clooney will grace, he spoke about how the lockdown did not dampen his drive to express love for his wife the old-fashioned way. “I’ll write a letter and slip it on her desk, or she’ll write a letter and leave it under the pillow; I’m a big believer in letters,” he was quoted saying.

Amal Clooney, a renowned human rights lawyer, married the actor in 2014. Their high-profile wedding was widely covered across the press globally.

George Clooney: Sewing Clothes, Shattering Stereotypes

Clooney, whose influential public image has long been defined by him being a leading icon of masculinity, took the opportunity to shatter toxic gender norms in his interview with the magazine. “I do a lot of sewing the kids’ clothes… And my wife’s dress that tore a couple of times. I was a bachelor for a long time and didn’t have any money, and you have to learn how to repair things,” he said.

Prior to his current marriage, George Clooney was married to actor Talia Balsam for a period of four years. From 1993 until his marriage to Amal in 2014, he notably remained a bachelor.

In a world that prefers tagging her merely as ‘George Clooney’s trophy wife,‘ the actor has not shied away from boosting Amal’s prominence as a feminist champion. Two years ago, at an event organised by Variety, Clooney took the stage saying, “Hi, I’m George and I’m Amal Clooney’s husband.”
