Baby Formula Shortage
Alyssa Chitti, a mother living in UK, is leaving no stone unturned to help parents across US deal with a major baby formula shortage. As suggested by reports, about 40 percent of baby formula is currently out of stock across the US due to the closure of a major formula production plant back in February. The situation is getting worse every day as millions of families in the US rely on formula to feed their infants.

How's Alyssa Chitti helping in tackling Baby Formula Shortage
Chitti from Utah is offering help to families by selling 4,000 ounces (118 litres) of her own breast milk. She has more than three freezers of breastmilk, which she plans to sell to families in need.
In an interview with Fox 13, she said, "I figure I'm running out of room, so might as well help someone else. I know I have over 3,000 ounces. 3,000 ounces downstairs and probably almost 1,000 upstairs," she told Fox 13.

Alyssa initially decided to donate it to a local milk bank. However, she found it was much easier to see it online, as per a report.

She also said that she is willing to sell her breast milk at $1 per ounce but will negotiate with her parents. She understands that a lot of moms need specific formulas for babies with upset tummies. Also, the stomach pain can get unbearable at some point. This compelled her to step in and help them.

According to the clinical coordinator of Mountain West Mothers' Milk Bank, even if hundreds of women volunteered to donate today, it would still take months for the bank to meet the demand, said Mary Callahan.
What is a baby formula?
Baby formula is also called infant formula. It is a manufactured food that's designed and marketed for feeding babies and infants under 12 months of age. They mimic breast milk. These are extremely helpful for mothers who are not able to breastfeed their babies.
