AAP hosts second edition of Delhi Dialogue today

An initiative by the Aam Aadmi Party called The Delhi Dialogue: Vision 2020, aims to make Delhi a ‘World Class City’ in the next 5 years. The initiative will be focusing on 12 areas in total, which will include women’s rights and safety in the capital, which currently has the highest rape rate in the country.

Today, November 26, 2014, is the second founding anniversary of AAP and has been declared by the party as ‘Women’s Empowerment Day.’ AAP is also holding the second edition of the Delhi Dialogue today in Delhi. The policy maker of the Party, Atishi Marlena told Live Mint, “We have held more than 300 meetings and the most significant issue that has risen is the safety of women.”

The party has suggested opening eateries till late in the night to avoid deserted roads and employing marshals to take public transports ensuring the safety of women. Issues like this will be discussed at the dialogue today. The party has also been promoting the dialogue through local radio stations.

Decision 2014>

After the success of the first dialogue the party released a statement: Delhi Dialogue will now proceed in a phased manner. The lead team will continue its deliberations with various sections of the society to highlight the issues concerning their lives, so that these can form an important part of the AAP Delhi manifesto. At the same time, the research team for the Dialogue programme will keep compiling feedback from the people on each respective initiative.”

The meeting will see the Women's Wing of the Aam Aadmi Party interact with common women of the city. Amongst the speakers will be Bollywood actor and AAP leader Gul Panag, first woman DGP of the country Kandhan Chaudhary and former vice-president of Axis Bank  Manisha Lath Gupta.
