The Covid-19 centre dedicated to mother and child is under the responsibility of Shahdara District administration and the Doctors For You organisation. The Sports Complex has also been attached with GTB hospital so that in case the patients turn serious they could be shifted to the hospital for treatment immediately.

"The Yamuna Sports Complex has been transformed into a mother-child health care centre. We have made a pediatric play area here for the Covid-19 infected children" said Rajat Jain, the Chairman of the Doctors for You organisation.

The Delhi government announced the imposition of the yellow alert in the capital on December 28. In an address, he said his government is “ten times more prepared than before” to deal with a COVID-19 surge.

"It's very difficult and challenging to keep a child behind closed doors for 10 to 12 days. Doing so would also harm their mental state. So, we at the  Yamuna Sports Complex Covid-19 centre have created an environment so that the children do not feel that they are in hospital," said Dr Jain.

The Yamuna Sports Complex Covid-19 centre would also accommodate a not-so-serious positive mother who has been advised isolation along with her child.

The centre is capable of addressing oxygen to 300 beds through their production of 2,000 LPM oxygen. They even have cylinders and concentrators. Hence, being able to cater up to 400 patients.
