Delhi Shocker: 87-Year-Old Woman Raped By Intruder At Home

An 87-year-old woman in Delhi's Tilak Nagar area was allegedly raped on February 13.

According to reports, the police have initiated the investigation in the case. The woman reportedly lives with her 65-year-old daughter in Tilak Nagar. The family alleged that an unknown person entered their house when the daughter has stepped out for a walk.

The family in their police complaint claimed that the man entered the house at noon and allegedly raped the woman and then left around 1:30 pm. When the daughter came back from home, she reportedly saw her mother bleeding with her clothes all torn.

87-Year-Old Delhi Woman Rape Case:

The Delhi Police said that they earlier filed a complaint about a mobile phone theft on February 13. The daughter on February 14 alleged that her mother was sexually assaulted. The police on their official Twitter handle wrote, "On 13.02.22, a written complaint of theft of mobile phone from a house in Tilak Nagar was received from the daughter of a senior citizen, after which FIR under relevant sections was promptly registered."

After the daughter's fresh complaint, the police have reportedly added relevant sections to the FIR. The investigations are on in the case. The Delhi Police said that they providing counseling and all necessary assistance to the survivor, NDTV reported. 

Earlier today, a journalist named Kabir Agarwal tweeted about the case. He wrote, " My friend's 87-year-old bed ridden grandmother was raped in Delhi's Tilak Nagar yesterday. She has injuries too. The Delhi Police has not been cooperative and is refusing to file an FIR." The tweet was shared by many social media users to raise alarm.

According to the data released by Delhi Police, in 2020, 1,429 rape cases were reported in the city. Between October 2020 to till November 2021, the police filed 1, 725 more such case. Registration of cases of molestation increased by 20.43% with 2,157 cases reported this year compared with 1,791 last year.
