All 22 Sub-Registrars (SRs) in the Revenue department of the Delhi government would be women officers for the first time as a result of the change. The LG office stated in a public statement that it is anticipated that with female officers in charge, the "prevalent corruption, red tape, and harassment of people at such offices will be mitigated."

All 22 Sub-Registrars In Delhi To Be Women

According to the statement, the sub-registrar offices are at the forefront of how the government interacts with ordinary citizens. The appointment of 22 women as sub-registrars in the Revenue Department offices of the GNCTD was announced on Tuesday by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena with the goal of empowering women in the nation's capital.

An official statement claimed that this action by the LG would ensure more sensitive, corruption-free, and compassionate public dealing, as experience around the world had shown.

Six more women SRs have already been appointed, and the LG announced the appointment of 16 women on Monday. The total number of female SRs in Delhi now stands at 22. The land registry, sale, purchase, and lease, registration of properties, sale deeds, issuance of share certificates, marriage registrations, issuance of caste certificates, issuance of income certificates, document verification, and other services that directly affect regular people fall under the purview of the SR offices.

According to the Raj Niwas statement, a number of corruption cases recently came to light as a result of the SRs' involvement, and the LG suspended the SRs in response. The statement continued, "It is anticipated that the prevalence of corruption, red tape, and harassment of individuals at such offices will be mitigated with women officers at the helm."

On October 8, 2022, the Chief Secretary appointed a woman Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at LG's request in order to create an 'e-platform' that would make all SR offices faceless and allow for the delivery of services to the public online. The Raj Niwas also directed the District Magistrates and Deputy Commissioners to complete the e-platform project as soon as possible.
