Malala Yousafzai Makes It To Oxford

Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Laureate, has secured a place at the prestigious Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford. She will be studying philosophy, politics and economics (PPE).

The 20-year-old Nobel peace prize winner tweeted a screenshot of the confirmation, saying: “So excited to go to Oxford!! Well done to all A-level students – the hardest year. Best wishes for life ahead!”

Malala had also applied to the London School of Economics (LSE), as well as Durham and Warwick universities

This young crusader comes from the Swat valley, an area in north-west Pakistan. The Taliban shot her when she was just 13 years old. This was her punishment for voicing her opinion on girls' education.

Her miraculous recovery set her on a mission to empower girls across the world.

Some of her other achievements

The Time magazine featured Malala in "100 Most Influential People In The World" for three consecutive years. She also released her memoir named ‘I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education was Shot by the Taliban’ in 2013. The memoir was co-written with British journalist Christina Lamb.

She has also created the Malala Fund to donate for education of millions of girls.

Vienna Peace Museum has nominated Malala as one of the Peace Heroes. The list also includes names such as Jesus, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Kofi Annan among many others.

Her never-ending battle earned her an honorary Canadian citizenship. Currently, she is a citizen of England and promotes education among children, especially girls.
