"Having studied Graphic Design and Visual Communication for seven years, creating compositions became my forté. I realised that is where my passion lies so I took up content creation as a full-time career and I’ve never looked back ever since," says Gaytri Jhaveri Patel.

The G Story is a digital boutique agency that specialises in content creation. It could be in the form of images, videos or GIFs. The agency delivers core expertise in social media, digital strategies, content strategies, content creation, and content planning among other similar services.

Gaytri Jhaveri Patel, founder and creative director of The G Story spoke to SheThePeople.

How and why did you start?

Sometimes our professions find us at a time when we least expect it. That’s what happened to me. It all started on a sudden trip, when one of my creative Instagram stories got the attention of a friend who noticed my work and offered me a project at the Good Glam Group (MyGlamm), which made me realise how much I enjoy creating compositions. That was how my passion found me. I was always a person who was drawn toward creativity, hence I never felt truly connected with any other career options.

I discovered that my work can act as a one-stop solution for brands when it comes to visual content creation, and that was the beginning of The-G-Story.

How do you define success?

Success for me is being happy. It is about waking up every single day and being excited to go to work and doing what you love. A successful person never looks at the work they do as a burden. As they say, ‘if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life’.

It is having a plethora of brands to constantly collaborate with, on new and interesting projects to help them captivate their audience. It is when brands appreciate the work we do and tell us how it resulted in better conversions for their marketing campaigns.

What is your top challenge and how you have addressed it?

I believe having the right team is extremely crucial. Finding like-minded and passionate individuals that help the company grow is one of the biggest challenges we face every day. With every challenge, you move forward.

The idea is to work on it relentlessly and find ways to overcome them by looking for innovative solutions. In this case, we took to the power of social media to reach out to talented individuals looking for opportunities instead of turning to HR companies/websites. This has helped us work with some of the best talents in the industry.

Who is your most important role model?

Rohina Anand Khira, the founder of AA Living. She was one of my first few clients, now a mentor and a very dear friend. She works so hard at being an amazing content creator, a successful business owner and a wonderful mother. It’s extremely inspiring to see how she juggles between these roles and does everything with her heart and soul.

Have you experienced any significant personal situations that have affected your business decisions?

Yes, getting married was that one significant personal decision that I made which brought me closer to the path of my success. My husband, Sanit Patel has been a huge part of this journey. He pushed me to start the company. He comes from a business background while I come from a creative one and that is one of the reasons why he is a very big support and confidence for me to move ahead.

What is your biggest tip for other start up entrepreneurs? (For instance, is there something you know now that you wished you had known when you started?)

Keep at it every single day, be consistent and don’t lose confidence in your abilities because hard work always pays off. In my initial days, I would often doubt my decisions but in hindsight it has helped me reach where I am today.

What's the one mantra that lifts you up?

Getting better at what you do and do it sincerely. It’s witnessing what you envisioned come to life.

What are your goals for your business?

We want to change the way international brands perceive content creation in India. We want our work to speak for itself and partner with international labels to create content for their global reach. Undoubtedly, it's a much more cost-effective solution for the brands because the quality is at par. We also want to bring technology to the forefront and make the entire content creation process much more automated and tech-driven to improvise turnaround time.
