The movie is a subtle reminder for us to live our life to the fullest because we really don't know which day becomes our last day.

goodbye

The Sky Is Pink is not your usual slice of life films. The climax of the movie is revealed the moment it starts which means that you know at the very beginning that the female protagonist Aisha Chaudhary  (played by Zaira Waseem) will succumb to disease at a young age but how she and her family dealt with it is what keeps you hooked to the movie. I returned with some tears, some laughter and some lessons. Here are a few of them

Everyone has a different coloured sky

There is a scene in the movie where Aisha's elder brother Ishan (played by Rohit Saraf) is reprimanded by his teacher for painting the sky pink. He narrated the incident to his mother Aditi (played by Priyanka Chopra) who explained to him how her teacher is wrong and why we have the freedom to decide the colour of our sky. After all, we all paint the sky of our lives with our own ambitions, stories, emotions and desires. How can someone else dictate what our sky's colour should be?

The movie is a subtle reminder for us to live our life to the fullest because we really don't know which day becomes our last day. Aditi knew that her daughter won't be alive for very long. She wanted her daughter to enjoy her life to the hilt.

Love is omnipresent

We, sometimes, lose our loved ones or distance or circumstances separate us. But there is something that remains intact forever and that's love. Battling a fatal disease, Aisha died when she was 18. But she was a firm believer of the fact that love never ebbs away. Though she wasn't physically there with them, her parents and siblings tried their best to keep her alive through her memories.

The movie is also about how the couple grapples with the financial and emotional challenges that this institution of parenting brings with it. There is a scene in the movie showing the couple discussing all kinds of hare-brained ideas to arrange money for their daughter's medical treatment. The couple knew that she won't survive for very long but they hid their sorrows and stayed upbeat around her. The movie also sheds light on the beautiful father-daughter relationship that Niren (played by Farhan Akhtar) had with Aisha. Her death broke him to such an extent that it took him a lot of time to come to terms with the truth. In fact, the couple's relationship also went for a toss a couple of times but it was their love for their children and respect for each other that brought them together.

After all, we all paint the sky of our lives with our own ambitions, stories, emotions and desires. How can someone else dictate what our sky's colour should be?

Live each day as if it were your last

The movie is a subtle reminder for us to live our life to the fullest because we really don't know which day becomes our last day. Aditi knew that her daughter won't be alive for very long. She wanted her daughter to enjoy her life to the hilt. She encouraged her to go out on a date with her crush at school, even took her out on a vacation where the family enjoyed some underwater sports to help her deal with heartbreak She also made it possible for her to see her book by requesting for a published copy of her book a day before its official release date. All this to make sure that she gets a happy farewell. So, go for that trip you always dreamt of, participate in that competition you wanted to, come out of your comfort zone, follow your heart's desires and tell your loves ones what they mean to you before it is too late. We often take life for granted but we never know when it ceases to exist.

My take

Go watch this movie for its beautiful narration and return with oodles of love for your family and life!
