Over the weekend three women athletes stunned the world, both making and shattering sports records. Simone Biles, Coco Gauff, and Brigid Kosgei led their respective sporting events to not just win but conquer. Here’s celebrating these electrifying young women champs and their records.
Simone Biles: most decorated gymnast at world championships
22-year-old Biles won her 25th medal in the gymnastics world championship on Sunday, bringing her total career medal haul to 19 golds overall and three silver and three bronze. In doing so, this Olympic champ has secured her place among the best of the best in gymnastics, men and women.

In Stuttgart, Germany, Biles, four-time Olympic gold medallist, participated in her fifth world championship. She now has claimed more medals at the international event than any other male or female gymnast in history.

The previous record of 23 medals was set in 1996 by Belarusian Vitaly Scherbo, which has now been broken by Biles with a record in her balance beam routine. But a 24th medal wasn’t enough. Shortly after, she broke her own record with a 25th medal, another gold, in the floor exercise. “I can’t be more thrilled with the performance I put out at this World Championships and it only gives me confidence moving forward,” she said after the game.

Coco Gauff: Youngest WTA winner
15-year-old Coco Gauff just won her first WTA title, thus becoming the youngest to do so in the last 15 years. Nicole Vaidisova held the record of being the youngest WTA winner since 2004 when she won her first title. Breaking her record, Coco blanked Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 to lift the Upper Austria Ladies trophy on Sunday.

With this win, Coco is now expected to rise into the Top 75 in the WTA rankings on Monday.
She also became the second player in the last two seasons to claim a debut WTA singles title as a lucky loser. She holds the feat along with fellow teenager Olga Danilovic, who was a lucky loser when she won the trophy at the Moscow River Cup last season.

Brigid Kosgei ran 2:14:04 at the Chicago Marathon
25-year-old Brigid Kosgei of Kenya broke Paula Radcliffe’s women’s marathon world record by the Chicago Marathon in two hours, 14 minutes, four seconds on Sunday. “I can go quicker,” says Brigid Kosgei after smashing a world record, which previously stood at 2:15:25.

She eclipsed the 16-year-old women’s marathon world record, beating it by 81 seconds, which was held by Britain’s Paula Radcliffe.

Brigid also won the Chicago Marathon for the second year in a row.
