Sustainable practises can begin at home, and in a small ways we can find ways to solve for the toxic environment around us. Here's a short but definitely effective list of products that are truly sustainable.

1. Bamboo Toothbrush

Regular toothbrushes are made up of plastic and come with nylon bristles. We change our toothbrushes quite regularly which directly contributes to the non-biodegradable waste on our planet. And even though it is completely fine to change your brushes, it kinda isn't fine to keep using plastic ones.

So as innovations progress further, toothbrushes made up of bamboo are being used instead of the regular ones. Bamboo is a naturally antimicrobial material. This means that it kills bacteria to the level of perfection. And guess what the main catch is - It's completely eco-friendly. So you are actually saving the environment by just brushing your teeth.

2. Menstrual Cup

A woman who gets her period approximately at the age of 10 uses around 16,000 pads or tampons in her lifetime. That's means 16,000 non-biodegradable plastic waste pieces contributed by just one woman. Think of what the whole country must be contributing to? Or worse think about the whole of womankind. There are options like sustainable pads, a menstrual cup among others.

The reusable silicon cup-shaped to sit in our vagina and collect the menstrual blood and discharge for up to 12 hours in a go. Some cups are reusable for up to 10 years when used right. It may be a task to get used to the way to insert the cup and to remove it but what's in the middle is pure freedom. The freedom of running, swimming, and dancing on the Moon days without feeling wet in our underpants. So pick the right size according to your age and body and get right on to it. Two women, you and nature would be smiling through the use.

3. Stand & Pee for Women!

Sustainability just doesn't mean only working towards the environment but also ourselves 'cus after all, we are a part of it. Standing and peeing is definitely something that all women wanted. Especially while traveling long distances and no toilets to extremely unhygienic toilets are encountered by us. And it's so highly unsafe to squat on a dirty toilet or touch the skin on a dirty seat. We don't just hate doing it ourselves but such practices invite many dangerous infections and diseases. Sometimes it is not possible to literally take your pant down in the open. So what's the next best thing, stand-and-pee.

While use and throw stand and pee devices are also available in the market, it is better to choose reusable ones. It can be placed right in between the legs and that's it, pee. After we're done, the product can be washed and reused.

4. Bamboo Spoon and Fork

Sounds silly, but extremely essential and definitely the way forward, using Bamboo Spoon and Forks instead of getting plastic cutlery from the takeouts which are thrown after a single-use can help society tackle the waste problem. Though this is not widely noticed, plastic cutlery is a huge contributor to the unnecessary chunk of waste. So say-NO-to-Cutlery!

5. Linen Carry Bag

Every shop we visit, every purchase we make, we get paper or plastic packaging to it. This packaging is packed again in a bigger bag that we may not use again. Such materials that get discarded after a single use are highly toxic for the planet. And we need to take certain strong decisions to counter these problems.

Sustainable practices are what individual imbibes in their lives forever.

Just like our mothers and grandmothers always carried a bag while going shopping, we must also carry a washable and reusable linen bag that can last in time without polluting nature. It's a small step towards a big move, and after all, we are technically cutting the branch that we are sitting on when we become insensitive towards nature. So why not become a little more careful?

6. Linen Towels

Quite common at home but not at all in restaurants and outdoors. We use a lot of paper towels and scrap them. While we contribute to the massive chunk of waste, we are also wasting a product coming from the trees which take years and years to grow. So yes, do not waste unnecessary paper towels. Instead, use linen and other reusable alternatives. It is a very small step but the impact will be huge in terms of waste and the products which we may not use today would be used by the ones who need them the most.

7. Bamboo Straw

Probably the most ignored type of waste is all the paper and plastic straws that we use and throw after every use. Again a lot of waste and we don't even know how hygienic the inside of the straw is. So why not carry our own set of straws which we know are clean and eco-friendly.

There are many ways that we can sustain in life without taking chunks away from the environment. Sustainable practices are what individual imbibes in their lives forever. It is a way of living. And that's the reason why it makes an impact.

In the wake of the current pandemic, it highly necessary for us to cut down the existing problems and try to solve the new ones. The sustainable practices listed above are just a handful of widely used techniques. Hence, feel free to tell us about your own sustainable ways of living.
