Who Was Vaishali Thakkar? Sasural Simar Ka Actor Dies By Suicide, Probe Underway

Vaishali Thakkar, a television actress known for her role in shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Sasural Simar Ka, was found dead at her residence in Indore on Sunday. She was 29.

Thakkar died by suicide and was found hanging from the ceiling of her home. The local residents of Saibag Colony where Thakker resided, alerted the police who broke open the door of her house to find her hanging from the ceiling fan, police officer RD Kanwa informedPress Trust of India.

A suicide note recovered from the spot suggests the actor was harassed by her neighbour, who is now absconding, the police added.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said the police registered a case of abetment of suicide against a couple residing in her neighbourhood, Rahul and Disha Navlani. In Thakkar's purported note, she named Rahul and said he was harassing her.

Who was Vaishali Thakkar?

Thakkar was a native of Mahidpur town in the Ujjain district and had been living in Indore for the last three years.

Thakkar has also been part of shows like Super Sisters, Vish Ya Amrit: Sitara, Manmohini 2, among others. Her last show Rakshabandhan aired on Dangal TV.

In April last year, the actor announced her engagement with Kenya-based dental surgeon Abhinandan Singh. While talking to ETimes, she discussed opting for an arranged-marriage setup and meeting her life partner through a matrimonial site. However, in just a month, she called off her engagement, reports The Indian Express.

According to news agency Asian News International, the suicide note said she was stressed and was being harassed by her neighbour Rahul Navlani, who is a businessman.

“Rahul was Vaishali’s neighbour and the suicide note indicates that he used to harass Vaishali, because of which she took such an extreme step. She was about to get married to another man and Rahul troubled her for that. The police are currently investigating the case,” Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Moti ur Rehman told the agency.

Navlani is currently not at his residence and has fled after locking his house. Police are currently trying to locate him, after that he will be questioned.

The items collected by the police for investigation include Thakkar's personal diary and other electronic gadgets.
