BVK Vagdevi was announced as the winner of Telugu Indian Idol, and fans are eager to learn more about the young up-and-coming singer who has made headlines by becoming the first Telugu Indian Idol. Here's everything we know about her.
The Telugu edition of the popular singing reality show premiered on February 25 and concluded on June 17 after 15 weeks. Thaman S, the renowned musician from Tollywood, Nithya Menen, the multi-talented actor, and playback singer Karthik served as judges for the show.
Who is BVK Vagdevi?
- She grew up in a musically inclined family, which encouraged her musical talent and skills. BVK Vaishnavi, her elder sister, is regarded as inspiring her to pursue a career in music. Her sister used to learn music at home from guru Balarka, and she used to hum the swaras when she was four years old. Her mother was persuaded by her enthusiasm to enrol her in the same classes as her sister.
- For more than a decade, the duo has been studying music. They earned a classical music diploma and are currently studying Manodharma sangeetam in Nellore, where they are known as the "Vaiva sisters." BVK Vaishnavi was one of the top 18 finalists on Indian Idol, and the sisters have been in every musical endeavour together.
- The competition was, however, won by BVK Vagdevi, who received a trophy and a monetary reward of Rs 10 lakh. In addition, the show's creators, aha, assured her of a role as a playback singer in films produced by Geetha Arts Production.
- Vagdevi is a 20-year-old architecture student from Nellore. She is an architectural student in her last year at Sri Sri University in Cuttack, Odisha. The singer has been balancing her education and her music career. In one of her interviews, she said, "Our teachers support us in the arts, citing structural engineering teacher RK Raja, who begins the semester with Vagdevi and her friend Vinum Kaushal's songs."
- During the Indian Idol season, Vagdevi was interning at Signs Architects & Interiors. She was able to compete in the contest while working from home thanks to the company's backing.
- Vagdevi expressed her gratitude to the mentors and judges who assisted her in honing the abilities necessary to reach the finals. "With this victory, my tireless efforts over the previous few months have finally paid off," she continued.
