Vipul Shah Produced Film The Kerala Story Is About Trafficking Of Young Women

The film is about thousands of girls trafficked to ISIS and other "Islamic war zones" in the last ten years.

The Kerala Story announcement video was released online on March 22. In one minute ten seconds long video, the director Sudipto Sen introduces the films to the viewer and shows what the basic plotline of the film is going to be about. The video was posted on YouTube under the channel Sunshine Pictures.

Since its release online today, the video has garnered more than 700 views. The announcement video opens with the clock ticking from 11:54 PM till it hit 12:01 AM. The ticking continues in the background making the viewer anxious about what might be coming next and creating an atmosphere of suspense.

Without going into the visuals first, the introduction frame is a question posed to the viewer- If your daughter does not return home till midnight, how would you feel? The background music transitions into a mixture of women's cries and on-screen appear text in white- In Kerala, thousands of girls went missing and never came back in the last 12 years.

The film is about thousands of girls ">trafficked to ISIS and other "Islamic war zones" in the last ten years. The producer Vipul Shah told the Firstpost, "This story is a human tragedy, one that will shake you to the core. When Sudipto (Sen) came and narrated it to me along with his research of over 3-4 years, I was in tears in the first meeting itself. That was the very day I decided to make this film. I am glad that we are now progressing with the film and we hope to make a very real, unbiased and true narrative of events."

Meanwhile the director of the film, Sen shared the statistics and said that as per the recent investigation, since 2009 some 32,000 girls have gone missing from Kerala and Mangalore. He specified the religions of these girls and that they were converted to Islam and most of them have ended up in places like Syria, Afghanistan and other ISIS areas. He also said that despite these, the government has not done anything to counter the issue.
