The users slammed the brand of colourism and asked about the need of doing it. A user said, "They could have easily found a shade as per Suhana’s actual dusky colour tone. That’s the whole point of a credible international makeup brand that they are inclusive, isn’t it?" Another user-targeted brand for its neverending obsession with fair skin. The user reiterated, "Brands could have easily used her dusky skin tone to come up with something new and inspiring, but their obsession with fair skin is never gonna get old. Her PR could have also used this concept to make her relatable to fellow Indians but looks like she will always be a privileged, insecure rich girl."

Society finds white beautiful, black ugly, and everything moving towards black, not pretty. With this bad and good come into the picture, black is attributed with bad luck, whereas white is cheered and celebrated. The same influences people's perspectives towards different skin complexes, especially women.

At some point of time, life for women with dark complexion becomes difficult compared to women with fair complexion. The biases are ingrained, and people see women with diverse skin complexions differently. This is called colourism, discrimination based on skin colour is a form of prejudice. We see this prejudice in our everyday life also. People subtly pass comments which define colourism, and we are ignorant of it. For instant: Name-calling cousins or friends over their skin colour, favouring colleague over fair skin, and more. So something that comes up on national TV is controversial, but it is the reflection of society. The brand is wrong, it could have stood aloof from its biases and delivered a more inclusive narrative. However, don't forget brand is selling what people want to buy and how they want to imagine themselves.

Shah Rukh Khan's daughter Suhana Khan will be making her acting debut alongside Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, and Vedang Raina, with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies.
