The makers of Stranger Things are developing a new animated series centred in the TV universe. The Duffer brothers' untitled project has been picked up by Netflix.
Even though the global smash series Stranger Things is going to end next year, the sci-fi series universe will still be around. The creators, the Duffer Brothers, have ordered an untitled new animated series based in the same universe for Netflix.
They will executive produce the new show with Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Eric Robles under their Upside Down Pictures label. There have been no fresh details provided about the next series as of yet.
Stranger Things Animated Series
In a statement, Matt and Ross Duffer said that they've always wanted to make the Stranger Things animated series like the Saturday morning cartoons they grew up watching and seeing their dream come true has been incredible.
The brothers added they are completely blown away by Eric Robles and his team's creations and called the writing and artwork outstanding.

Stranger Things aired on Netflix in 2016 and starred Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Noah Schnapp.
Since its premiere, it has gone on to become the most popular original series on the streaming site. Stranger Things follows the residents of Hawkins, Indiana, a fictional town in the United States plagued by paranormal activity and home to another reality known as the Upside Down.
The fifth and last season was announced in February 2022, with a launch date set for the following year. Along with the new animated series, Netflix has plans for another live-action spinoff series and a Stranger Things stage performance. The character the spinoff will follow is unknown, although the Duffer brothers have stated that it will not center on fan favorites like Eleven or Steve Harrington.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which was announced last month, will premiere in London's West End in late 2023.
