Kenneth Mitchell, celebrated for his memorable performances in Star Trek: Discovery and Captain Marvel, tragically passed away at the age of 49 after a valiant battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). His departure on February 24 in Los Angeles marks the end of a remarkable journey for the actor, who is survived by his wife, Susan May Pratt and their children Lilah and Kallum.

Mitchell's Instagram post on February 25 shared an obituary that eloquently captured his essence as a dedicated father and a cherished member of his community. The heartfelt tribute described Mitchell's unwavering commitment to his family, emphasising his role as a beacon of positivity and playfulness in the lives of his children.

Kenneth Mitchell's Work Life

Hailing from Toronto, Mitchell embarked on his acting journey in the early 2000s, making his debut in Showtime's Leap Year. His notable roles include Eric Green in Jericho, Sam Lucas in Ghost Whisperer, and appearances in Nancy Drew and Captain Marvel on the CW. Mitchell's association with the Star Trek franchise began in 2017 when he portrayed multiple characters in Star Trek: Discovery, including Klingons Kol and Tenavik. 

As he battled ALS, he continued to contribute to the franchise, taking on the role of Aurellio, a character utilising assistive technology, in Star Trek: Discovery and other roles in Star Trek: Lower Decks. Despite his health challenges, Mitchell remained dedicated to his craft, making his last onscreen appearance in the FX series The Old Man alongside Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow.

Kenneth Mitchell crossed paths with Susan May Pratt while filming the TV movie Charms for the Easy Life back in 2002. Their connection blossomed into marriage in 2006, and together they are parents to daughter Lilah and son Kallum, in Studio City, California. Mitchell bravely disclosed his battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in February 2020, following his diagnosis in 2018. Despite the challenges posed by Mitchell's condition, the family has cherished moments of togetherness, enjoying vacations, and spending quality time at home, especially amid the pandemic.
