Raanjhana
Although the movie promoted stalking and toxic lover behaviour, the songs of the movie and the culture of Varanasi was a sight to behold for viewers. The story is about a Kundan who falls in love with a Muslim girl Zoya while in school. He stalks her, gathers information on her and is obsessed but since they are from different religions and Zoya loves another man, he knows it won't work out and gives up. However, when he gets to know that Zoya lied about her lover being a Muslim, he gets outrageous.
Khoobsurat
In a typical Disney film with a sweet, royal romance, Sonam Kapoor plays a carefree, outgoing physiotherapist who is an invitation to trouble. She starts working for the royal family and gets closer to the prince. The serious and boring prince finds her exhausting, troublemaker and nuisance at first but soon falls in love with her quirkiness. The movie became popular for its songs and starred Fawad Khan opposite Sonam Kapoor.
Delhi 6
Starring Sonam Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman and many other great actors, the movie showcased the lives of the people in Old Delhi and how people from different religions live in harmony there. Sonam plays an ambitious girl Bittu Sharma who aspires to be a singer and is in love with photo studio employee Suresh. Sonam warms up to the NRI from her neighbouring house who has come to visit his ailing grandmother who later ends up liking her.
Neerja
Dubbed Sonam Kapoor's best film to date, this movie is the biopic of the iconic heroine of the 1986 hijack of the Pan Am Flight 73, Neerja Bhanot, that was travelling from Mumbai to New York. The head flight attendant was on board when a group of terrorists from the Abu Nidal Organisation hijacked it in Karachi. She fought till her last breath to save the 360 passengers on board but ended up losing her life. Sonam Kapoor plays the fearless protagonist in the film and was acclaimed for her performance.
Veere Di Wedding
An iconic movie that showcases girl gangs, bonding friendships and female desires, this movie is still a benchmark for girl friendships. The movie stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania as a group of friends who have been friends since school days. When one of them is getting married, they all decide to go on a bachelorette trip to Thailand that helps them rediscover themselves. Sonam plays a law practitioner specialising in divorce cases who is disinterested in marriage.

The movie was inspired by the 1919 novel A Damsel In Distress and features Sonam Kapoor as a Punjabi lesbian girl, Sweety, from a small town in Punjab, Moga. She has not yet come out but her brother knows the truth about her identity and is against it. She falls in love with a girl she met at a wedding and Sahil Mirza, a playwright who helped her run away from a man not knowing he is her brother. Sahil helps her reunite with her love by organising a play in Moga and getting close to her family.
Padman
This movie is based on the life of a social activist from Tamil Nadu named Arunachalam Muruganantham who is credited for inventing the low-cost machine to produce sanitary pads for women. The movie features Akshay Kumar as Lakshmikant Chauhan who gets upset when he sees his wife using an unhygienic piece of cloth during her menstruation inspiring him to produce safer sanitary napkins at a low cost. Sonam Kapoor plays an educated girl Pari Walia who understands his passion and joins him on his venture to persuade local women to use these pads.
Aisha
Aisha, a 2010 film by Rajshree Ojha, is full of drama, comedy and romance. Sonam plays a rich and fashionable upper-class woman who believes that she has a talent for matchmaking but is criticised by her friend Arjun for her habit of meddling with other people's business. Soon, Shefali Thakur, a small-town girl, enters Aisha's life and becomes her new project. She sets to set her up with a business tycoon but her efforts are not very fruitful and also drift Aisha apart from her friends. This film is reportedly adapted from author Jane Austen's book Emma.
