Social Media Influencer, Sarah Langa Talks About 'Pretty Girl Privilege'

Social media influencer, Sarah Langa was in the spotlight over the past weekend for talking about 'pretty girl privilege'.

This happened after a video of Sarah Langa's conversation with media personality Unathi Nkayi went viral. The video clip is from “Festive Get-together in The Life Artois”.

The full video was uploaded on YouTube in January this year, in which Unathi could be seen talking to Sarah and her friend and fellow luxury influencer Kefilwe Mabote about their career and friendship.

“There’s pretty girl privilege and let’s not shy away from that. Your role is to uplift people that don’t feel pretty like a pretty person, because you are constantly praised. So it does come with a lot of hate but that’s a part of the responsibility, to understand where the hate comes from, and the hate is deeply rooted in the privilege," said Sarah Langa in the video clip.

She then added that this is a privilege, which people don't want to acknowledge. In March, she even retweeted a tweet, which explains what the pretty girl privilege is.

Privilege isn’t the presence of perks and benefits. It’s the absence of obstacles and barriers. That’s a lot harder to notice. If you have a hard time recognizing your privileges, focus on what you don’t have to go through. Let that fuel your empathy and action.

As soon as the clip went viral, many netizens started reacting to it. Many people questioned her on her responsibility to uplift people who weren't 'pretty enough', and that how she would define someone like that. However, there were some who openly supported her.

I think she's sayin Pretty girls are always praised and looked at.They have people's attention wherever they are.. Now it is up to them, to make sure no girl is mistreated or looked down on just because she not considered as "Pretty"..

Sarah Langa quashes dating rumours

Recently, it was rumoured that Sarah was dating DJ Black Coffee. This came after both of them posted pictures of their party moments on their respective social media accounts, and they also happened to be in Miami at the same time.

However, Sarah was quick to quash the dating rumours and said that she decided to go on a holiday, to focus on herself, after her divorce last year.
