Priyanka Chopra welcomes baby via surrogacy! On January 21, 2022, the actor-producer and her husband Nick Jonas took to social media to announce the birth of their child- whose gender or name hasn’t been disclosed yet. The couple has requested privacy in order to focus on the family at the moment.

“We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much.” wrote the couple in a joint statement posted on their social media accounts. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas haven’t shared a photograph of their newborn as of yet.

It was reported that the baby was born 12 weeks before the due date. Priyanka Chopra had reportedly cleared up her schedule to embrace motherhood in April but the good news was received by the couple a little early. The baby is currently at South California Hospital outside Los Angeles and will be able to go home to her parents when she is healthy enough.

In the past few years, the Hindi entertainment industry has seen a rise in late pregnancies and birth via surrogacy. What’s more, celebs haven’t shied away from sharing the news about welcoming a baby via surrogacy. While it was a taboo subject in the 90s, as it cast questions on a woman’s fertility, surrogacy is now just another option for couples who want to have a baby, but can’t do so biologically, due to any reason.
