She was named to Time's 100 Most Influential People list in 2016. She is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, the United Nations’ Girl Up initiative spokesperson, and a Girl Rising ambassador. She also inaugurated The Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education, a non-profit organisation.

The actress remarks that she always has backup plans in case one of her plans doesn't work out.

"Whenever I make career strides, I believe in having at least a plan A, a plan B, and a plan C so that if one doesn't work out, I always have something else to fall back on, and by that, I don't mean professional options but rather means to get to your target, such as a plan of action. It shouldn't just be the one plan that I'll apply to this one place and hope to obtain the job. People put too much emphasis on a single opportunity. You must create a variety of options for yourself", she said.

At the height of &t=72s">her success in the Hindi film industry, around 2011-2012, the 40-year-old opted to explore Hollywood. The actor said it took her eight years of building her credibility with minor roles and films to finally obtain opportunities with major names like 'The Matrix' creators Lana and Lilly Wachowski and 'Avengers: Infinity War' producers Joe and Anthony Russo.

"I've been a leading lady in Hollywood and Bollywood for a long time. I consider myself a leader. Getting there takes time. It took me around eight years of hard labour in Hollywood to be able to play leading roles "explained the actor.

"I've found a wonderful work-life balance. I'm no longer someone who overworks herself. I used to blow out both ends of the candle. Today I understand that I need time, that my team needs time, that people need to sleep, and that we need to eat. There was a time when I could go days without sleeping or eating and it didn't matter. Yet, my priorities have evolved."
