Priyanka Chopra Controversies: The year 2021 has been quite a busy time for actor, singer and entrepreneur Priyanka Chopra. She recently starred in one of the Matrix sequels, The Matrix Resurrections and has been promoting the film on all fronts. Apart from introducing her own brand, shooting for both Hollywood and Bollywood films, roasting her husband Nick Jonas on a Netflix show, Chopra has also been replying to the various controversies created around her.

The actor was suddenly in news for a rumoured separation from her husband and singer Nick Jonas. The controversy was that she dropped Jonas from her name on social media platforms. The actor's mother came to her rescue as she clarified that dropping Jonas does not mean she is separating from her partner. The actor was trolled for her short screen time in the much-awaited film The Matrix Resurrections. In the film, she played the role of Sati and the movie was released on December 22 this year. In an interview with Asian Sunday Tv, the actor said that whether it be Bollywood or Hollywood, she never chose roles on the basis of its screen time. She said, "I am not very myopic when it comes to my characters, especially not The Matrix!"

2. Her Choice Of Outfit

Chopra was trending in February this year for wearing the orb dress designed by Halpern Studio. The social media erupted with memes on the dress and actor. While she played a sport by commenting, "Too funny...Thanks for making my day," on a few of such memes. However, a Twitter user wrote, "Are you serious Ma'am, is that a dress then what's the point to having a good figure?" To which Chopra replied, "The fact that a "figure" doesn't matter (emojis) that's the point (emojis)."

In 2018, the actor went to the Met Gala wearing Ralph & Lauren trench coat gown and was immediately ridiculed by netizens in form of memes and how ridiculous the outfit looks. As soon as the news of Jonas and Chopra marrying had gotten out, she was criticised for her age difference with Jonas. The memes called her mom, aunty, amongst other things and the actor said, "I find it really amazing when you flip it and the guy is older, no one cares and actually people like it." She also spoke about this in the Netflix show, where she said, "Nick and I have a 10 year age gap, we do and there are many 90 pop culture references which he doesn't understand and I teach him, which is fine because we teach each other things. The actor got a massive hit back on a picture she shared with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The actor was wearing a dress and the netizens trolled her for not dressing appropriately and showing off her legs. Chopra's reply to the trolls was simple, she posted a picture of her with her mother Madhu Chopra. In the picture, both mother and daughter were wearing the dress and Chopra captioned it, "Legs for days... #itsthegenes with @madhuchopra nights out in #Berlin #beingbaywatch."

6. Oscar Nominations

An Australian entertainment journalist tweeted whether Chopra and her husband Jonas were qualified to present the Oscars nomination in 2021. The actor recently posted a story on Instagram pointing few media publication houses referring to her as 'wife of Nick Jonas' as her credentials on a story about her film The Matrix Resurrections promotional event.
