The "Officier des Arts et des Lettres" is a prestigious title given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the world of art, culture, or literature, or have played a key role in promoting the arts in France and across the globe.

Kapadia’s love for storytelling began in her school days. In a previous interview with SheThePeople, she recalled, "I wanted to paint. I wanted to do architecture. But it was during my school years, through a film club that screened works of Satyajit Ray and world cinema, that my fascination with storytelling began."

For Kapadia, cinema is deeply connected to society. "We don’t live in a vacuum," she said. "Cinema, like any art form, has a responsibility to respond to the world. For me, my films reflect the questions I have about society and the relationships we accept or reject."

Her films often explore themes like women navigating social boundaries. “It’s my way of understanding and questioning our society,” she added. Read the full interview here
