Naga Shaurya, a Telugu actor preparing for the release of his film Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi, gained internet fame after a video clip went viral which shows him saving a girl from her abusive boyfriend.

Naga Shaurya saw a man who had slapped his girlfriend on a busy road in Hyderabad on Wednesday and asked him to apologise to her. When the man remarked, "She is my lover," the actor did not let him go.

Shaurya witnessed the incident in Hyderabad when he saw a man arguing with his girlfriend out in the open. When the actor saw the boy slapping his girlfriend, he got out of the car. Soon after, he demanded that he apologise to the girl. "It is never acceptable to physically or verbally assault anyone, especially a woman," Shaurya said while holding the man's hands.

 Shaurya is seen in the video holding the man's hand while asking him to apologise to his girlfriend. "Say sorry to her," the actor said to the man. The man retorted that she was his girlfriend. Shaurya insisted on having him apologise to her anyway. He said, "Why did you hit her on the road? Even though she might be your lover, you shouldn't act in such a disrespectful manner." Shaurya instructed the man to apologise to the woman. Additionally, onlookers could be seen urging the man to apologise.

In the video's comments section, which was posted on Twitter, several people praised Shaurya's action. After watching the video, one user commented that he now has a lot of respect for the actor. Another person tweeted that, like most people, he did not ignore this because he believed it to be a public issue. However, some Twitter users questioned whether this wasn't just a publicity gimmick for Shaurya's upcoming release.

On March 17, his movie Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi will be shown in theatres. Srinivas Avasarala is the director of the film, which also stars Malvika Nair. On November 20, Shaurya married Anusha N. Shetty, a businesswoman from Bangalore.
