Monica O My Darling Trailer Out, Rajkummar Rao's Dark-Comedy To Release Soon

The dark comedy-drama film, Monica O My Darling, starring Rajkummar Rao, Radhika Apte, Huma Qureshi, and Sikander Kher in the lead roles, is all set to release this November. The makers have now released a trailer for the upcoming film.

Vasan Bala is the director of this comedy-infused murder mystery written by Yogesh Chandekar. Monica O My Darling stars Rajkummar Rao Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte, Sikandar Kher in the lead roles. The cast is joined by Bagavathi Perumal, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Sukant Goel, and Zayn Marie Khan.

A delightfully dark comedy is hinted at in the Monica O My Darling trailer. While the trailer doesn't reveal much, it does reveal that Rajkummar Rao is being blackmailed and is entangled in Huma Qureshi's dark web. Sikander Kher suggests killing him as a final option. Images of a body being moved around are shown, along with some sarcastic humour. Then Radhika Apte appears on the scene as a police officer assigned to the case. The cabaret song Piya To Ab To Aaja from the 1971 Hindi film Caravan, which was written by Majrooh Sultanpuri, composed by RD Burman, and sung by Asha Bhosle, served as the inspiration for the movie title. The synopsis of the film read, “Monica, O My Darling is a neo-noir that is an ode to movies about the perfect plan that led to mayhem in the lives of the people involved.” The plot involves “lust, blackmail, betrayal, blood, mystery, and some robots crushing human skulls."

The film will not release in theatres and will release directly on the OTT streaming platform Netflix. The first look of the film, Monica O My Darling was unveiled by Netflix at last month’s Tudum event. While Apte is a veteran Netflix performer who has appeared in their shows Sacred Games, Ghoul, and Lust Stories, Rao has already worked with the streaming platform on the movie The White Tiger.

Sarita Patil, Sanjay Routray, and Diksha J. Routray are the producers of the movie. The film is made under the banner, Matchbox Shots production. Monica, O My Darling will be released on Netflix on November 11.
