Crime Branch Sends Notice To Vivek Oberoi’s Wife Priyanka Alva, In Connection With Kannada Film Industry Drugs Case
Actor Vivek Oberoi’s wife Priyanka Alva has been served a notice by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bengaluru Police in connection with a drug case. The agency officials also raided Oberoi’s Mumbai house for the same on Thursday. CCB suspects Aditya Alva’s involvement in the Sandalwood drug trafficking case, who is Priyanka’s brother, according to ANI.
Priyanka Alva was summoned by the crime branch at 12 pm.
Reportedly, on August 21, a major drug racket was busted in Karnataka, for which an investigation is underway. Oberoi’s brother-in-law is suspected of involvement in this drug nexus by the officials. “Vivek Oberoi is his relative and we got some information that Alva is there… So a court warrant was obtained and the Central Crime Branch team has gone to his house in Mumbai,” a police officer was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. It was also alleged that many of the accused in the Sandalwood drugs case were present at some parties held at a farmhouse near Hebbal Lake, revealed to be owned by Aditya, the son of a former minister, late Jeevaraj Alva.
According to sources, Priyanka Alva’s brother Aditya is said to be missing since September 4. For the past month, police have been searching for the drug peddlers, suppliers and rave party organisers related to the case. Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Bengaluru Police, told NDTV, “Aditya Alva is absconding. Vivek Oberoi is his relative and we got some information that Alva is there. So we wanted to check. So a court warrant was obtained and Crime Branch team has gone to his house in Mumbai.”
Many drug peddlers have been allegedly supplying drugs to singers and actors in the Kannada film industry, and as of now, more than 15 people have been arrested in this case. Some of the famous names that came up during the investigation are Kannada film actresses Ragini Dwivedi, Sanjjanaa Galrani, rave party organiser Viren Khanna, realtor Rahul Thonse and several Nigerian nationals.
