Father's Day is celebrated across the globe to honour fathers, father figures, and parenthood. This Father's Day, let's take a look at some feminist gathers from TV shows that deserve some love.

From fathers in American TV series to fathers in Indian web series, and even Chinese dramas, have we missed appreciating these dads? Not anymore! Here is the list of my favourite underrated dads from the TV show.

Feminist Fathers in TV Shows:

1. Phil Dunphy from Modern Family

Phil (Ty Burrell) is a family-oriented man who is obsessed with being a "cool dad" and buddy to his three adolescent-hitting kids but ends up embarrassing them. Kids in their puberty are challenging to handle, and yes to accept that your kids are no more your "little girl" is harder.

I loved how Phil used to constantly put effort into his kids which he called "parenting", supporting them in their dreams and accepting their flaws. From trying to capture Haley's first boyfriend coming to pick her to him attempting to create a special memory with Alex, Phil always proves he cares about his children. His incredible bond with his son Luke also won over netizens.

Phil never failed to be there for them all which makes him an ordinary but one of my favourite dads.

2. Sanjay Awasthi from Yeh Meri Family Hai

Sanjay Awasthi (Rajesh Kumar) is a dad tangled in the grip of patriarchy instilled in all of our roots and upbringing. He is an awkward dad to his late teenage daughter from a middle-class household. &pp=ygUTWWVoIE1lcmkgRmFtaWx5IEhhaQ%3D%3D">Awasthi is not a strict dad and loves his daughter unconditionally, but is too hesitant to express that, maybe that has never been taught to him. And hence the bond of father-daughter grows apart being distant.

That's what happened once we grew up right? But with the constant impetus of their wife, Sanjay Awasthi finally puts efforts to get closer to his daughter and realises how such small efforts can bridge the distance. I loved how when a neighbourhood goon misbehaved with his daughter he said "Maza toh tab aata jab Ritika bhi use ek chata lagati" (It would have been better if Ritika would have slapped him too."

3. Zion Miller from Ginny And Georgia

Zion Miller (Nathan Mitchell), father to a struggling teenage daughter Ginny and first husband to Georgia won hearts with his chivalry. From supporting his impregnated girlfriend Georgia and introducing her to his family to handling the heart-wrenching details about how his daughter self abuses herself, Zion sets an example of how a man should be.

Not running away from duties even if no one asked him to stay, treating the ladies of his life right, and gracefully accepting Austin as his son, his attitude for letting the ladies of his life shine and always being there for them and knowing his boundaries adds up to his charisma. He has to be a super dad that all of us wish for.

4. Ni Kun from Triad Princess

Ni Kun (Michael JQ Huang), boss of the Cosmos gang is the single father to a boisterous daughter Angie in the Taiwanese show Triad Princess. While Angie grew up in the shadows of her mafia dad, this is a story about the journey of a rebellious daughter to choose paths in her life against her father's will.

Angie has a celebrity crush on superstar Jasper Yi-hang Xu and becomes his bodyguard. Ni Kun who is always pointed a finger at by her daughter, humiliated and never listened to and goes against his commands still manages to keep up with his daughter when he can easily use his powers to cage her.

He is proud of her choices even though she defies his will. And dads with no entitlement and authoritative issues even after holding so much power to easily control whoever they wish, won my heart in this cheesy yet sentimental series that perfectly depicts Asian culture and shows not all Asian dads are strict.

5. Mark Naird in Space Force

General of a space operation force POTUS in Colorado, the US Chief of the Space Force Mark Naird shifts to Colorado along with his family when his life gets messy. Reasons yet unknown, his wife Maggie is imprisoned while his daughter Erin Naird is in her prime age of rebellious kid with her struggles.

Mark despite his chaotic challenges at work still manages to be a good single dad to his daughter. He wants to protect her daughter and he yet to let her fly free. He is there for her driving miles away speeding car and breaking signals just to hug her. Despite Erin being a total jerk sometimes he still handles her patiently when throughout the show Mark can be seen on the verge of losing his temp. And that's what makes him an idol for her daughter who wishes to be a leader just like her dad. Being a single dad is hard and has its struggles, yet Mark never fails in his duties. That's what makes him a superhero for Erin and an unsung hero for all of us.

Feminist Fathers

There are many other feminist dads from the world of TV shows like Devi's dad Mohan Vishwakumar from Never Have I EverRachel Green's dad Dr Leonardo Green from the infamous and our favourite show Friends to the Kawai anime series  SpyXFamily and Loid Forger the best Bondman and super dad to little notorious orphan girl Anya Forger. Here's to celebrating them all and more of those I missed.
